Cool Links:
- Karl Marx is the Father of Communism, and although the communist
system has failed in many nations, there are many people who continue
to believe in Marxist ideas. The
Marx/Engles Internet Archive provides a comprehensive library
of Marxist teachings.
- Why study history? Steven
Kreis offers his thoughts in a provocative web site. He
has many great links that explain how and why you should approach
history. I don't agree with everything he has to say, but
his web site is time well spent.
- It's a bird, it's a plane, it's. . . hey, look out, it's FALLING!
What happened on June 30, 1908
in the western Siberian village of Tunguska? Click on any of the
underlined
words to follow different links. An explosion flattened thousands
of square miles, and the seismic shock wave was detected as far
away as London. Despite the inaccessibility on the Siberian tundra,
Leonid Kulik explored the region in search of meteorite fragments
(although not until 1921), but was never able to locate anything.
Recent studies have shown that Tunguska was caused by the airburst
of an Asteroid about 5 miles above the surface of the Earth. The
asteroid is believed to have been roughly 60 meters across.
